Positive ACTING, not just thinking

November 19, 2009

“Positive anything is better than negative nothing.” ~Elbert Hubbard

I’ve written about positive thinking before and how it can literally make or break a situation. Today, however, I’ve been thinking about acting positively. In other words, outwardly behaving around others, especially when speaking about others, as positively as you’re thinking about yourself and your goals. So, being as supportive and positive and encouraging towards others as you are to yourself. You could be the biggest student of personal development and goal-setting and positive thinking and personal responsibility in the world, but what good is ANY of that if you don’t treat other people with the same set of philosophies?

Food for thought. What say you?

I'm all about acting, pretty words everybody can say… Only few will really take action.

Agreed, Ric! “Only few will really take action” <– The exact reason why the vast majority of businesspeople fail…they're just not willing to take action, to do the work.

believe me I was an expert on thinking and not acting. Sometimes we just need a push from some people (and have that people in our life to remind us that).

I wrote a short 15 years ago for Entrepreneurs of Tulsa newsletter titled, “ACTION is REALITY.”
When we actually take an ACTION,,, we achieve RESULTS. Maybe what we expected, and maybe NOT. Regardless, we take further action…. and each time, learn SOMETHING new.
My favorite bill board sign said, “YOUR ACTIONS SPEAK SO LOUD, that I can't hear what you are saying.” Love it!

    And the one for parents:
Children will do what you DO; not what you say.

    Congrats on being PUBLISHED!!!
    Successfully yours,

Thanks for the comment, Brumo! Love the billboard. It's always amazing to me how many are willing to talk the talk, without realizing they aren't walking the walk!

      Cheers to you, Annie

I struggle with acting positive, but I know I should. It's been proven that positive interactions have a profound and remarkable impact on us and others. I didn't really have any understanding of how important positive interaction were until I read Dr Don Clifton's book, How Full Is Your Bucket? I highly recommend the book and it's 100% on topic with this post. http://www.amazon.com/Full-Your-Bucket-Positive…

Great post, love the thoughts going on here. Brumo's billboard is a great quote too!

“It's been proven that positive interactions have a profound and remarkable impact on us and others.” Love that.

Thanks for your thoughts and the link to Don Clifton's book, will check that one out!

Glad you like that little nugget, but honestly I can only take credit for the way it was phrased, otherwise its Don Clifton's concept :) Speaking of, Don Clifton is also the person who developed the Gallup Strengths Finder assessment and wrote the books Now, Discover your stregth and Stregths finder 2.0… Also great!
