WP-touch plugin, you say? Hmm…

I'm a little surprised you haven't installed the WP-touch plugin, I know you've got an Android device… I think you'll like it!

As for Tumblr I just see it as the (too often ignored) first shining milestone of what microblogging ought to be, and it was gaining traction before Oprah name-dropped twitter and, well as they say, the rest is history.

Twitter is our saviour now, but much like Flash it will get too old (and is already 5 or 6 years behind it's competitors) and we will be cursing it and blaming it for setting us back. The more tumblr sooner, the better!!

It doesn't replace a blog, which is articles, it's just a collection of asides and tidbits related to your life that allow others to interact with you. Unlike twitter, it allows media posted directly in. Unlike twitter it's curtated (meaning twitter is a giant flat list, and replies are to everybody, at the top of YOUR list. Tumblr has comments per post, so I can post under your posts and they show up there for everybody else (it's sorted).

The future is going to rely on curating the vast amounts of data out there – Tumblr does this well, and allows others to curate media they find online. http://fuckyeahmashups.tumblr.com is a great exmaple of this.

Nobody wants a list of: the 50 best Tumblr Themes, nobody wants 200 Tumblr Themes. What we want is -> the 5 crucial themes you need to be aware of. If time is money, then brevity in writing is luxury. There's no shortage of information online available to us, but unsorted and uncurated that data is still useless to us. The future of Twitter will be the introduction of tools (like Tumblr) that will allow us to curate and augment the stream of information.

Tumblr is what Facebook is trying to with the the wall posts and status updates. Tumblr is what Twitter wishes it was. Tumblr is a threat to Typepad. Tumblr is the little brother of WordPress/blogging. Tumblr is like IM or email betweens friends on steroids.

I used to use Tumblr long ago, a little for short blogging, but mostly to capture everything that interested me online. Pictures, videos, links, in the most sort of “artful” way I could do it. I was inspired by Tumblr's creative presentation, and even community. Twitter ended up replacing that for me, which is OK, but though it's easier to have an audience there, it's certainly a lot less personalized than Tumblr. When it comes to my own stuff, I've been using Posterous. I think both services are great, but I switched for a few specific reasons that I could get into if you wanted.

Anyways, yea, I'm in the process of creating a new home for myself using Squarespace, and I've been giving thought to how I'm integrate Posterous in that space. Really hoping to finally once and for all establish the 'ole personal brand with this one… everything from content, to tone of voice, to colors.

Oh – I LOVE how you integrated Formspring into it! I may have to ask for some pointers on that, because it's fantastic.
