2011 Reading List

Welcome! This is a running list of everything I’ve read in 2011. I am fascinated with what books others are reading, as I find that it gives me an inside look at what their interests and priorities are at the moment, where their business is going (or where they want it to go), and what ‘streaks’ they’re going through. Sometimes I feel like it even provides a sneak peek into rarely seen parts of their personalities.

I hope you find my list even a fraction as interesting.

All books listed I have read cover to cover, unless otherwise noted. Books upon which I have posted a formal review are linked as well. All links are Amazon affiliates.

Happy reading to you!
~Annie

You should give Goodreads a try if you don't already use it. Excellent way to keep track of what your reading and find other similar books and people with similar interests.

Just found your website after watching my first episode of the RenMen Show, love what I've read so far. Good luck with your 90 day challenge too.

Hey Steven, I have checked out Goodreads, they have a fantastic service! Thanks for the recommendation…and for stopping by. :)

  • http://roderickmeadows.com/ Roderick Meadows

Annie, I have read Emergency and The Art of Non-Conformity, very different but great books; I am reading the 4-Hour Body now, which for some reason is very hard to read on my Kindle, so this is the only physical book that I have read in a long time.

    • http://www.anniesorensen.com Annie Sorensen

      I agree about 4HourBody, it's such a textbook vs. a read-straight-through novel. What're you reading now, Roderick?

      • http://roderickmeadows.com/ Roderick Meadows

I can't just read one book at a time; these are the three books that I am reading at the moment: The 4-Hour Body, The Personal MBA by Josh Kaufman and Influence by Robert Cialdini.

I didn't see either in your 2010 or 2011 lists, but looking at the list you might enjoy Taleb if you haven't read him already. The Black Swan and Fooled by Randomness.

    • http://www.anniesorensen.com Annie Sorensen

Thanks, Charles, you recommend both I take it?

      • charles

Yes. I've read them both several times. Taleb jokes that he wrote the same book twice. Fooled by Randomness was an unexpected success (ironically a black swan) and The Black Swan was the subsequent book also a major hit. He pulls no punches in print and apparently refuses to be edited. PhD, MBA, retired pit trading, anti-academic, economist hater. If I were to go on a long sailing trip and have one guy to talk to for a year, he'd be the guy.

          Ha! Awesome.

I just finished reading “Same Kind of Different as Me” by Ron Hall and Denver Moore. It is a very good book.

    • http://www.anniesorensen.com Annie Sorensen

Fascinating book, Danny! I think it was a smidge more inspiring than sad, which is good. :) Have you seen the second book out by Hall and Moore? “What Difference Do It Make” ?

      • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=722340193 Danny King

No, I haven't read the second book. I will have to get that one next. I agree, it is very inspiring, mixed in with a lot of sad circumstances. But I think that is what makes it more inspiring.

  • Unclekyle

What did you think of “Emergency: This Book Will Save Your Life” by Neil Strauss? I loved the book so much I bought copies for friends and family and gave them out as Christmas gifts.

    • http://www.anniesorensen.com Annie Sorensen

LOVED it! It was crazy, but one of the most fascinating books I had read in a long time. My husband and I both read it in a couple day period of time. What did your friends think of their Christmas gift? ;)
